Flow, an interactive experience between IED Madrid and the textile brand Kvadrat

Come and discover this ephemeral installation on textile forms that reflect the areas of transit that surround our day-to-day life. A project developed by the students of the Higher Qualification in Interior Design of IED Madrid in partnership with the Danish company Kvadrat.

Flow is an installation and a videomapping display that plays with light, colour and texture. Flow is movement, lines of energy and matter. It is a journey through diversity that begins with a call through the window display installed in the Hotel de Las Letras, in the main street of Madrid, as part of the Madrid Design Festival, and which culminates with an explosion of senses at the Gabinete de Exposiciones of IED Madrid.

Designed by students of the 4th year of the Higher Qualification in Interior Design, creatives from different regions and countries, this ephemeral installation has been developed in partnership with the Textile design firm Kvadrat and supervised by the teachers Zaloa Mayor, Carolina Fernández, Guillermo Orduña, Lucas Ortiz and Sara Kieninger.

The students have worked on the type of fabric, the colour tones and the different textures through five stages: warmth (origin), cold (problem), uncertainty (travel, transit), hope (arrival) and excitement (new home). The surfaces may be used by the visitors, while a videomapping display accompanies them through each one of the moments, representing the development of this particular journey at the rhythm of a heartbeat: the departure and the mixed thoughts, the new challenges, the excitement of arrival, the sensations caused by the new destination...
