Since 2016 the IED Madrid has participated in FIT2COM, a European project aimed at getting the European footwear industry and consumers to be involved with products that take into account foot health and comfort, without forgetting about design. Thus, it seeks to differentiate European footwear internationally, making it synonymous with quality and creativity.
To this end, it is conducting a thorough research into trends from each institution to boost the industry and consumers, and a new professional profile with the appropriate training will be created, making it valid all over Europe.
Portugal, Romania, Germany and Spain are partners in this program, overseen by the European Union, in which the ministries of education in each country, a national footwear association and a training centre are involved. In the case of Spain, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, Inescop (Technological Institute for Footwear and Related Industries) and the IED Madrid work together on the project.
